YOU Should Know- Mo’ Betta Soul

Mo’ Betta Soul is a performance concept with the idea of “music, art & coffee” where intimate shows are put together combining visual artists and performing artists. The creator (Preach Jacobs) is based out of Columbia, SC and the concept has gotten great attention. Collaborators forgo going through conventional venues and approach events with a DIY attitude to bring new music and art to the people.

They hope to take this concept to other cities outside of Columbia but in order to do so they need funding for travel expenses and artist compensation. They try to keep the shows free and want to be able to expand these events across the country.

family!!!

I come from an amazing family of artists and activists from my mother on down. I don't do this very much, but every once in a while something happens and you've got to toot the family horn. My older brother, prominent Atlanta DJ and Music Producer DJ Kemit just finished production on a new single for soul artist Anthony David featuring Algebra and Phonte (of Little Brother and Foreign Exchange fame) . Its a great tune and the video just had its world premier on 106 and Park the other day. Though even I have yet to see the video, half of the Rashied clan makes an appearance. Complete with my mother strolling down the soul train line.

I grew up around many of the artists you'll see and I feel such pride in seeing them all together working on this labor of love.
